FAQ’s
Can I ride these e-bikes on public streets?
That depends on the bike and where you plan to ride it. Many of the models we carry are built with off-road performance in mind and may not meet the requirements for street use in every area.
Rules can differ by state, municipality, park, and trail system, so it’s important to check the regulations where you live before riding on public roads, bike paths, or trails.
Will I need a license or registration?
For riding on private property, these requirements typically do not apply. Public-road requirements can be different depending on the bike’s speed, motor output, and local classification.
Before taking your bike onto public streets or other public spaces, check with your local authorities to see whether licensing, registration, insurance, or other requirements apply.
What should I look for when picking a bike?
Start with how you actually plan to ride.
Consider your height, experience level, preferred terrain, desired speed and range, and whether you want something more beginner-friendly or performance-focused.
With different sizes, power levels, suspension setups, and battery options available, there isn’t one bike that fits every rider. Our team can help narrow down the options and point you toward a model that makes sense for you.
I’ve never owned an electric bike before. Is that okay?
Absolutely. You do not need to be an experienced rider to get started.
Many bikes offer adjustable riding modes or power settings, giving newer riders the ability to learn the bike gradually instead of jumping straight into maximum performance.
As with any powered bike, we strongly recommend proper protective gear, learning the controls before riding aggressively, and choosing a safe place to get comfortable with the bike.
How fast can these bikes go?
Every model is different. Top speed is influenced by the bike itself as well as rider weight, terrain, battery charge, and riding conditions.
You can find estimated performance numbers on each bike’s product page.
Keep in mind that a bike’s maximum capability does not necessarily mean that speed is legal or appropriate everywhere you ride.
What kind of range should I expect?
There is no single mileage number that applies to every ride.
Battery range can change significantly depending on:
- Rider weight
- Terrain and elevation
- Riding speed
- Power mode
- Acceleration habits
- Weather conditions
- Tire pressure and bike setup
We list manufacturer range estimates whenever available, but actual riding distance will vary.
How will my bike arrive?
Most shipped bikes arrive in a protective shipping box with the majority of the bike already assembled.
Standard shipping generally requires some final setup before the bike is ready to ride.
Customers located near Northeast Philadelphia may also have access to local pickup or delivery options, including the possibility of receiving the bike fully assembled for an additional fee.
Availability of local services may depend on your location and the specific bike purchased.
Is assembly difficult?
Most customers will only need to complete a limited amount of final assembly.
Depending on the model, this could include attaching the handlebars, installing the front wheel, adjusting controls, or completing other basic setup steps.
If you are not comfortable assembling or checking the bike yourself, we recommend having the final setup completed by an experienced bike or powersports technician.
Local assembly options may also be available through Northeast Philly E-Bikes.
Is there warranty coverage?
Manufacturer warranty coverage is included with the bikes we sell, but the exact terms vary depending on the brand and model.
Different components may also have different coverage periods or warranty requirements.
We recommend reviewing the warranty information for the specific bike you are considering, especially if you have questions about batteries, motors, controllers, or other major components.
Can I return a bike after I order it?
Because of the size, value, and nature of the products we sell, all purchases are final once an order has been placed. We do not accept returns or exchanges and do not issue refunds for change-of-mind purchases.
We encourage customers to review specifications, sizing, features, and compatibility information carefully before completing an order. If you need help choosing between models, contact us before purchasing so we can help answer your questions.
What if my order arrives damaged or there is a problem?
Please inspect your shipment as soon as it arrives.
If an item is damaged during shipping, defective upon arrival, or you receive the wrong product, contact Northeast Philly E-Bikes within 48 hours of delivery.
When submitting a claim, please include:
- Your order number
- A description of the problem
- Photos or video of the bike or item
- Photos of the shipping box and packaging when applicable
Once the issue has been reviewed and verified, we will work with you on an appropriate solution, which may include replacement of the affected item or another resolution depending on the circumstances.
Issues reported more than 48 hours after delivery may not qualify for review.
